Ace Hardware Corporation is an American hardware retailers' cooperative headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois. Founded in 1924 by a group of Chicago hardware store owners seeking collective purchasing power, the company was incorporated as Ace Stores in 1928 and renamed Ace Hardware Corporation in 1931. In 1973, following the retirement of founder Richard Hesse, the company was sold to its retailers, becoming a retailer-owned cooperative. Today, it operates as the world's largest hardware retail cooperative, with approximately 5,800 locally owned stores across more than 70 countries.

The company offers a comprehensive range of hardware, tools, paint, lawn and garden supplies, plumbing, electrical, automotive, marine, and home improvement products. Its brand messaging has evolved from the iconic 1970s jingle Ace is the place with the helpful hardware man to the inclusive Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks. The tagline The helpful hardware place was later streamlined to The helpful place, which remains the core brand promise today.
