Singha was founded in 1933 by Phraya Bhirom Bhakdi (Boonrawd Sreshthaputra) in Bangkok, Thailand, as the country's first brewery. Inspired by European brewing techniques after visits to Germany and Denmark, he launched Boon Rawd Brewery and introduced Singha beer in 1934. The name derives from the Sanskrit word "Singh," meaning lion—a mythical creature symbolising protection and benevolence. In 1939, the brewery received the Royal Garuda warrant from King Rama VII, a distinction held by no other Thai brewery. Singha began exporting in 1970 and has since grown into one of Asia's most recognised premium beers, available in over 65 countries.

The brand's core products are pale lager beers, including the flagship Singha Premium Lager (5% ABV), brewed from 100% barley malt with artesian well water, and Singha Light (3.5% ABV) introduced in 2006. Its portfolio also encompasses Leo, U Beer, and non-alcoholic beverages.

From its classic positioning as "The Original Thai Beer" to the 2019 campaign "Fortune favours the first. Start it with Singha" and the international promise "Born in Bangkok. Brewed for the World," the brand has evolved from a national pioneer into Asia's global premium beer, championed through partnerships with Manchester United, Chelsea, and Formula One racing.
