Jetstar Airways Pty Ltd (trading as Jetstar) was established in 2003 by the Qantas Group as a low-cost domestic subsidiary, born from the rebranding of Impulse Airlines which Qantas had acquired in 2001. The airline commenced domestic passenger flights on 25 May 2004, and on 1 December 2005 launched international services to Christchurch, New Zealand. In July 2006, Jetstar and Jetstar Asia united under a single brand, and the airline expanded across the Asia-Pacific region with sister carriers in Singapore and Japan. Headquartered in Melbourne, Victoria, Jetstar operates an extensive domestic network alongside regional and international services, using a mixed fleet of Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft and Boeing 787 Dreamliners for long-haul routes.

This journey reflects a shift from a Qantas fighter brand to one of Australia's most recognised low-cost carriers, championing accessible air travel for millions of passengers across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia.
