Chapman's Ice Cream was founded in 1973 when David and Penny Chapman moved into the rooms above an old creamery in Markdale, Ontario, launching their dream with four employees, two old trucks, and fifteen flavours. What began as a modest family operation has grown into Canada's largest independent ice cream manufacturer, now spanning over 180 products delivered coast to coast by a fleet of fifty trucks. The portfolio ranges from premium ice cream and frozen yogurt to sorbet, water ice Lolly's, and single-serve novelties—all made with 100% Canadian dairy. The brand's voice has remained rooted in its founding vision "For the Kid in All of Us," evolving into the patriotic declaration "Made by Canadians, for all of us Canadians!" and the 2018 "Real vs Fake" campaign that drew a sharp line between its authentic dairy recipes and imitators. In 2023, the original line was reborn as Markdale Creamery, honouring fifty years of frozen heritage while the Super Premium Plus range announced bolder ambitions for the next generation.
