📖 Branding Insight & Heritage:

Viewers Choice was a Canadian English-language pay-per-view (PPV) and near video-on-demand service. Launched on 5 September 1991 following a CRTC licence award to Viewer's Choice Canada, the service was established as a partnership between Astral Communications, Rogers Pay Per View Inc., and TSN Enterprises. It was the first pay-per-view service permitted to operate in Eastern Canada and remained the sole English-language PPV provider in that region until 1999. The service was carried by various cable and IPTV providers, offering movies, live sports, and special events to subscribers primarily in Eastern Canada. In 2013, Bell Media acquired Astral and CTV (parent of TSN), gaining a controlling interest in Viewers Choice. However, as Bell and Rogers had each developed their own competing general-interest PPV services—Vu! and Sportsnet PPV respectively—the joint venture was wound down, and Viewers Choice ceased operations on 30 September 2014.
