PJSC Aeroflot – Russian Airlines, commonly known as Aeroflot, is the flag carrier and largest airline of the Russian Federation. Tracing its origins to 1923 when it was established as Dobrolet, the airline was renamed Aeroflot in 1932 and became the sole Soviet civil aviation operator, once carrying 120 million passengers annually with a fleet numbering in the tens of thousands. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the airline underwent restructuring and was re-established as a joint-stock company in 1994. In 2001, Aeroflot launched a comprehensive rebranding programme that introduced new corporate colours, aircraft livery, and service standards. Today, it operates from its hub at Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow, serving over 90 destinations across 47 countries with a modern fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft. A member of the SkyTeam alliance since 2006, its core offerings encompass scheduled passenger and cargo services, premium cabin experiences, and the Aeroflot Bonus loyalty programme. Brand messaging evolved from the Soviet-era call "Fly Aeroflot!" through the 2003 campaign "Closer because from the heart" to the 2004 rebranding promise "Sincerely yours, Aeroflot!", reflecting its transformation from a state monopoly to a modern, customer-focused international carrier.
