Völkl Ski International GmbH traces its origins to 1923, when Georg Völkl founded a small woodworking shop in Straubing, Bavaria, Germany, initially producing furniture and sleds. In 1952, the company pivoted to ski manufacturing, and by the 1960s it had become one of Germany's leading ski brands. The 1970s saw the introduction of the revolutionary Renntiger racing ski, and in 1982 Völkl pioneered the world's first torsion box ski construction, setting new standards for performance and durability. In 1995, the company was acquired by K2 Sports, and in 2007 it became part of Jarden Corporation. In 2016, following Jarden's acquisition by Newell Brands, Völkl was sold to Kohlberg & Company, and in 2017 it joined the MDV Sports group alongside K2 and Marker. Today, headquartered in Straubing, Völkl remains one of the world's most respected ski manufacturers, producing over 300,000 pairs annually.
