Batemans Brewery was founded in 1874 by George Bateman in Wainfleet, Lincolnshire, England, initially as a small family brewery producing traditional ales for the local community. The brewery has remained in the Bateman family for over 140 years, passing through four generations. In 1960, the company moved to its current Salem Bridge Brewery location in Wainfleet, where it continues to brew today. Batemans has survived two world wars, the consolidation of the British brewing industry, and changing consumer tastes, maintaining its independence as one of Britain's few remaining family-owned regional breweries.
