Avnet traces its origins to 1921, when Charles Avnet began selling surplus radio parts from a pushcart on Manhattan's Radio Row. Listed on the NYSE in 1961, the company evolved from a local radio shop into one of the world's largest distributors of electronic components, embedded solutions, and supply-chain services. The portfolio spans semiconductors, connectors, passive and electromechanical components, plus design-chain support through field application engineers and the element14 engineering community acquired via Premier Farnell in 2016. In 2017, Avnet divested its Technology Solutions division to refocus on core distribution. The brand ethos has evolved from the forward-looking "Delivering what's next" to the 2017 "Reach Further" campaign, and more recently to "Making Possible," reflecting its mission to accelerate product innovation. Today, Avnet serves over one million customers across 140 countries, shipping more than 157 billion units annually.
