Dirt Devil traces its origins to 1905, when Phillip A. Geier founded the P.A. Geier Company in Cleveland, Ohio, crafting metal vacuum cleaners by hand. In 1953, the company was reorganised as Royal Appliance Manufacturing Co., and in 1983 it launched the Dirt Devil brand with a revolutionary handheld vacuum. The 1984 Classic Red Dirt Devil Hand Vac became an instant hit, selling over 23 million units and making the brand a household name across America. Today, Dirt Devil operates under TTI Floor Care North America, a division of Hong Kong-based Techtronic Industries.

The brand's core products are household vacuum cleaners and floor care equipment, including upright vacuums, handheld vacuums, canister vacuums, stick vacuums, cordless models, and carpet washers. Its innovations span bagless technology, HEPA filtration, and the patented Cyclone suction system.
