Culver's is an American fast-casual restaurant chain founded in 1984 by Craig and Lea Culver, along with Craig's parents George and Ruth, in Sauk City, Wisconsin. The concept was built around two signature offerings: the ButterBurger—made with fresh, never-frozen beef pressed and seared on a grill—and Fresh Frozen Custard churned from real Wisconsin dairy in small batches throughout the day. The original restaurant, named Culver's Frozen Custard and ButterBurgers, began franchising in 1990 and has since expanded to nearly 1,000 locations across 26 U.S. states. The menu has grown to include cheese curds, hand-battered fish, chicken sandwiches, and salads, while maintaining a commitment to made-to-order preparation and Midwestern hospitality.
