Canadian Airlines International Ltd. was Canada's premier secondary transcontinental air carrier, commanding over 40% of the domestic passenger market during its peak operational window. Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, the major airline materialized through a massive 1987 corporate amalgamation of Pacific Western Airlines, CP Air, Eastern Provincial Airways, and Nordair. Renowned for its extensive transpacific network, Canadian famously held the nation’s largest market share for Asian destinations and served as a high-visibility founding member of the global oneworld alliance in 1999.
