Allegiant Air (usually shortened to Allegiant and stylized as allegiant) is an American ultra-low-cost carrier headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada. Founded in January 1997 as WestJet Express by Mitch Allee, Jim Patterson, and Dave Beadle, the airline rebranded to Allegiant Air in 1998 following a trademark dispute. After filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in December 2000, the carrier was restructured under Maurice J. Gallagher Jr., who pivoted the business model toward connecting underserved small-to-medium cities with premier leisure destinations through low-frequency, nonstop service. The airline went public on NASDAQ in 2006 under ticker ALGT and has since grown into one of the most profitable U.S. carriers, operating a modern fleet of Airbus narrowbodies and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Beyond scheduled and charter flights, Allegiant offers bundled vacation packages through Allegiant Vacations and expanded into hospitality with the 2023 opening of Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor in Florida. Brand messaging evolved from the 2010 campaign "Travel is our deal" to its current motto "Together We Fly", reflecting its commitment to affordable, accessible leisure travel for communities across the United States.
