Kix (cereal)'s Slogans & Taglines

Kix is an American cold breakfast cereal brand introduced by General Mills in 1937 during the Great Depression. It was the first-ever puffed corn cereal, created using a proprietary "puffing gun" technology that extruded vitamin-fortified corn dough into airy, round pellets. Engineered to address consumer demands for a crunchier, more nutritious alternative to soggy flake cereals, Kix was marketed as a "food for action" containing 83 percent energy. The product line has expanded to include Berry Berry Kix (1992) and Honey Kix (2009), while the original variant remains one of the healthiest mainstream children’s cereals with just 3.3 grams of sugar per serving. The brand has never relied on a permanent mascot, distinguishing itself through product integrity rather than character-driven marketing.

Brand messaging evolved from early nutritional claims to the iconic 1978 tagline Kid Tested. Mother Approved., later accompanied by the jingle Kids love Kix for what Kix has got. Moms love Kix for what Kix has not. In 2018, the positioning was updated to Kid-Tested. Parent-Approved., reflecting a shift toward gender-inclusive family values while maintaining its core promise of great taste without added colours or artificial flavours.
