Canal A's Slogans & Taglines

Canal A was a Colombian semi-public television channel that offered general programming, originally launched in 1972 as Inravisión Segunda Cadena. In 1979 it was renamed Inravisión Segunda Cadena Color with the advent of colour television, and in 1982 it became Inravisión Cadena 2. In 1992 it was rebranded as Canal A, adopting a distinctive hand-drawn lion logo inside a triangle. On July 31, 1998, the channel unveiled a new image created by Duque & Asociados, introducing the tagline es televisión. However, most of its programmers were either bankrupt or had become production companies, leading to a steady decline. Canal A ceased broadcasting on January 31, 2004, and was replaced by Canal Institucional, a public-service network dedicated to institutional and governmental programming.

Brand messaging was anchored by the 1998 tagline es televisión (it is television), a minimalist declaration that positioned the channel as a straightforward, essential broadcast service. While earlier advertising slogans have not been extensively documented in public sources, this positioning reflected the channel’s identity as a generalist public broadcaster serving Colombian audiences with diverse programming until its eventual transition to an institutional format.
